The short version
BuildMaths has no accounts and no sign-up. The calculators run entirely in your browser and nothing you type into them is sent to us. The site shows advertising, and the advertising network uses cookies. That is the whole story; the details follow.
What we collect
We do not collect names, email addresses or any personal information through the site itself. If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply and, if it reports an error, so we can fix it. We do not add you to any list.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and to keep the site running. We use Cloudflare's aggregate analytics, which do not identify individual visitors and do not use cookies.
What is stored in your browser
Each calculator remembers the last numbers you entered so they are there when you come back. That is stored in your own browser using local storage, never sent to us, and cleared when you press Reset or clear your browser data. The Share link button puts your numbers in the web address you copy; anyone you send that link to can see those numbers.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at www.aboutads.info. Other third-party ad vendors and networks may also use cookies to serve ads; those vendors are listed by Google at this page.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message before advertising cookies are set, and can change their choice at any time through the link in the footer. Visitors elsewhere can control cookies through their browser settings; the calculators work with cookies disabled.
Affiliate links
Some pages may in future link to retailers that pay us a commission if you buy something after clicking. Those links are marked, and the retailer's own privacy policy applies once you are on their site.
Children
The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we hold almost none, requests to access or correct it are usually a matter of finding your email and doing what you ask. Write to hello@buildmaths.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes, such as adding a new form of tracking, will be noted on this page for at least 30 days.
